Villa Medicea di Lilliano Destination Wedding, Florence, Italy
Emily & Ant’s Destination Wedding at Villa Medicea di Lilliano, Florence, Italy
“Nailed it. Absolutely frickin nailed it. I’m at a loss for words. I cried again. Obvs. We laughed. Em’s abs hurt. Thanks so much for capturing the best day of our lives so fantastically well.” (Ant)
Hold onto your spaghetti, people. There’s a whopping slice of Tuscany comin’ atcha! This pair of beautiful humans made their Destination Wedding at Villa Medicea di Lilliano, Florence, Italy a celebration of the very best things in life – love, food and wine. And holy cannoli’s, it was a belter! When we first chatted to Emily & Ant and asked them, so why an Italian wedding? Do you two have a special connection to Tuscany? Was there an Italian proposal? They looked at each other and replied in unison, smiling and slightly sheepish, “We love food and we love wine.” Well, what better blooming reason can there be to get married and throw the party of your lives on a vineyard in the Florence countryside? Plus, wedding venues don’t get much more incredible than Villa Medicea di Lilliano, so once Em had seen it, they knew they wanted to bring together their friends and family from far-flung corners of the globe, to eat, drink and party hard in the Tuscan hills.
Excitement levels were pretty much off the scale as we touched down in Pisa to photograph our second wedding in Italy and work alongside the awesome Destination Wedding planners, Wiskow and White. We got to spend our first afternoon in Florence hanging out with Em & Ant at the Boboli Gardens on their pre-wedding shoot and as we chatted about turtles, Bruce Springsteen, wine and… turtles, Hannah broke her shoe, Ant and Toby cooked in the sun and Em giggled a lot, we kind of fell even harder for these two and couldn’t wait to photograph their big day.
We’ll let the images do the talking on this one because, as Ant says, the whole wedding kind of left us speechless. The ceremony location at Villa Medicea di Lilliano blew us away and watching Ant lead his guests out of those main doors, overlooking the panoramic views of the rolling Tuscan hills was pretty magic. We may have shed a tear or two behind our cameras as Em arrived (there was definitely dust in the air that day, right Ant?!), looking absolutely sublime. And then… there was the food. So much food. And signature cocktails. And wine. I think the rest of Italy may have gone hungry that day because we have genuinely never seen or tasted so much incredible deliciousness in our lives. It was definitely a go big or go home situation. We went for big.
This was as perfect as weddings get. And we feel so privileged to have been invited along as destination wedding photographers, to tell Em & Ant’s awesome story of amore. That’s right, people, we are practically fluent 😉 Well, not quite, but where love is concerned there is no translation needed. And this day was pure love. We can’t thank Emily & Ant and your families enough for giving us such a wonderful Italian wedding welcome. Can’t wait for the anniversary party… did I hear you say Barcelona?!
