Charlotte & James – Colourful DIY Wedding

I don’t even know where to start with Charlotte and James. Let’s just say that I might have shed more than a few tears of joy on their big day. I had a super emotional moment before I even got there, en route to shoot Charlotte’s bridal prep, it just got me!!! Thinking hell yeah…we made it!!! After so many postponements and hurdles and watching these two happily jump through every hoop with massive smiles on their faces, with concern only for everybody around them, never themselves. I was absolutely made up that these schooldays sweethearts were finally getting married, surrounded by everybody who loves them. And they are so easy to love! When these photos hit the editing screen we couldn’t stop grinning. Charlotte & James are not just one of our favourite couples, they are now two of our favourite humans, with two of the best families.

Their bright, colourful DIY wedding theme is a perfect reflection of their personalities. When their original wedding venue couldn’t accommodate their new date, in true Charlotte & James style they decided to simply create their own. They poured so much of themselves into transforming the rugby club field into a totally unique, personal venue all of their own. Taking DIY wedding criteria to the next level, with over 2000 handmade pom poms that formed a rainbow walkway for their guests, a vibrant paper pom pom arch, weaving in James’ love of Star Wars with life-size Storm Troopers, a football goal, table tennis, pick and mix and a crisp bar, this was the DIY wedding of dreams; jam-packed with fun for everybody. And did I mention the crisp bar?!

We can’t thank these two enough for being so supportive of Red on Blonde, for being kind when they were going through a tough time and for choosing us to share this monumental day. It was an absolute joy. See you for those beers soon?!
